NGAQB2 – Giuseppe
Last day of August today. Really? I barely remember June and July. Well, I do remember a week in July. That week in Sisters, Oregon teaching at Quilters Affair. That is always an awesome time! So as we head into the autumn days in the Northern Hemisphere, it was really very nice to be working on Giuseppe’s “Chester” quilt! Luscious fall colors. I got to break into my country colors which I haven’t used in ages. Very fun times.
Most of these fabrics came along with the project, but I pulled some of my great browns that I used to use all of the time. And I had some oranges already pulled to the top of the heaps from this project.
There was already a LOT going on in this quilt and it was huge as well (that’s ME holding it up with my arms over my head. I am 6’4″ and I still couldn’t get the bottom to hang straight)
Guiseppe had mentioned that he had wanted something traditional, but the quilt had already gone pretty untraditional without a bear paw block to be seen. I didn’t want to be so obvious and add bear paw blocks, and I thought that the quilt really needed a dark border at this point. So I went with dark, wonky log cabins. But I had to make them less traditional, so I “scalloped” them.
And I really thought the best place to photograph this was in the woods…..so I hope you enjoyed viewing this “bear in the woods” post…..
That’s it for today and for August.
Watch for Blue Nickel posts in September! I am going to be MAJORLY Cleaning up in the studio and I will have some GRAND Giveaways and surprises for sale in the shop.
Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,

It’s fun seeing the different quilts in the NGAQB. I love the colors in this one.
