ella blue fabrics – Melba
Today’s post is LONG overdue. As are most posts here these days. But I still LOVE this fabric that Leonie from ella blue fabrics gave me last Fall at Quilt Market, and I want to share it with you. Most likely it may be hard for you to find out there in the real world, but here’s hoping you can. (I did find some online for you while it lasts — here and here.)
The line is called Melba and it is designed by Emma Jean Jansen. It features a bunch of cool Australian motifs that we don’t get too often here in the U.S.
How could I not love this line? It has text prints! It has dots! It has trolley tickets!
It has florals! It has Magpies (the best part)! It has TROLLEY CARS (ok, that may be the best part, I can’t decide)!
So what have I done with it so far? Well, I made the Large Kiss Blocks from my Hugs and Kisses No.9 Pattern as samples for my class at Quilters Affair last month. During Class we put all of the Big Kiss Blocks and Big Hug Blocks next to each other on the design boards, and I realized that I quite liked them just loaded up next to each other without the smaller blocks and sashing. So I made two Big Hug blocks to go with the Big Kiss Blocks to show you some more of the line.
And then I couldn’t resist making some more Nine Patches — and photographing them somewhat like what Kim does over at her place.
Earlier this year in MAY…. I shared this Something Fishy Block in Melba. Get the free PDF for Something Fishy here.
Here are the Hugs, Kisses, and Nine Patches scattered on the lawn.
That’s it for today. Is it REALLY the end of August?? You can tell fall is coming by the leaves on the ground in the above picture! I am looking forward to fall even if it does seem too soon. September in the Pacific Northwest is one of the nicest months, and technically still Summer. I hope to enjoy what I can, while I can. And maybe get some long overdue yardwork done too?? Wish me luck!
Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,
