273: Shangri La Snow……
I thought this quilt would never get published…..there is such a long time between when I send a quilt to a magazine and when they are actually published. I remember working on this in the heat of summer….well, what little heat we had this summer. So anyhoo…..here is my friend Paula Prass‘s Woodland Delight line in my quilt “Shangri La Snowflake” I designed and made it for Quilter’s Newsletter December/January issue….(I apologize for blogging so late about it, I didn’t realize the issue had been out for awhile when I got the quilt back…)
What is kind of funny is that the magazine peeps are the ones who write up the directions there, and they decided to simplify my design to the blue version shown here.
And then my version showed up on the back page of the instructions. I was happy to have my quilt in the magagine, but I was a little sad that my original didn’t get a bigger photo. …. but that is how things go sometimes, you know?!
I wish I had time to chat a little longer today, but I my mind is swirling with all that I have to do…..
…… and I am feeling bad, as I just finished a none too fun Fatherly lecture complete with yelling and crying…..and that was just me…..I know sometimes in blogs, there is a pressure to have everything all nicey-nicey…..but well….sometimese life if not that formulaic…..so…yeah….it wasn’t the best morning here at the Blue Nickel…I am sure things will be okay….but the morning just wasn’t much fun….

In fact, already my kids have forgiven me for the yelling bit….see that is leftover from my upbringing….and unfortunately I haven’t fully overcome that aspect.
Probably more info than anyone really wanted here, but what’s done is done…and like I said things are alreay getting better…..
If only I could find some minions now, to help with all of the rest of my to do list…..
Peace out,
Scott
Hope your day is going well….thanks for stopping by….I promise I will keep the next few posts all Nicey-nice, ust for putting up with this one. 🙂

Scott I LOVE your original version. It’s so lovely. I would have given it a much larger picture. 🙂

Think of the bright side, we all have ugly moments with our children, at least your episode didn’t end up broad casted to the world like Alec Baldwin and David Hasselhoff.
I had more than a few fits with my children when they were growing up (they’re now 22 and 25) and it always made me feel horrid. Luckily, there were MANY more positive moments in their childhood that they treasure.

Honesty is the best policy, especially when you have such beautiful eye candy coming first! We apologize fairly quickly around here, and those soap box moments are necessary for growth. When our kids see us apologize, they learn that they are not perfect and their apologies/acceptances come more quickly! They are learning from the fruits of our learning, if that makes sense. LOVE the quilt! And if I was to choose, it would definitely be your color choice. Beautiful!

I like the quilt patterns! Your version has a nice, non-traditional look to it that I like.
It’s hard to not yell occasionally and not be the perfect parent that we’d like to be all the time. It’s a good thing kids are so resilient!
Thanks Cathy! Yes it is good that kids are resilient, isn’t it?!

Hey Scot, congrats on your publication! My friend’s daughter told her mom, “you better be nice to me because I will be picking out your Nursing Home!” It made me laugh…but it is TRUE!
That is hilarious Sheri!! So true though, I will have to tell my kids that one!

Hey Scott, as you can see I have not been blogging or checking blogs too much these days. But alas, I just saw the quilt and read the post. Well, I liked your version! Thanks for showing us the results.
Well of COURSE you liked my version better!! You gave me some great fabric to work with!!
