164: April Snowflowers bring May Peppermint Stars

Hey all you elves out there!

Here is the Snowflower project ….top done, needs to be quilted and bound….It is called Peppermint Stars, and the pattern will be available online at Free Spirit, eventually…probably not until late May, I am thinking…but it will be there…I like how the centers of these stars look like that peppermint candy that is wrapped up in clear cellophane, you know the stuff?  I think you can get it most of the year, but it is really pushed at Christmas time…

This upper right block is my favorite I think.  I like the little print and the stripes together.   I also really like the red and white border fabric…oh and the blue fabric in the center block.  At first I was wondering how this would all look together, as some of the whites in this are a clear white-white, and some are an ecru of sorts….but I think when you put them all together, it doesn’t seem to be an issue….

Now to get this quilted and onto the next one for Market, plus a lot of little things that I want to do before then as well.

Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night!

Scotty Claus….

  • That is perfect, Scott. My favorite blocks are the ones with more blue in them. I can just imagine how much nicer it is in person.

    Thanks Elaine!

  • Hi Scott!

This quilt is fabulous as expected. I can’t wait to see how all the quilts look together at the quilt show. Great job!

Hey Mr. Claus–now we know what you do in the off season! The star pinwheel effect is great, but from the previous post, I think I would have loved to see some of the fabrics left in bigger pieces. I’m really loving the red and whites. Do you ever have to design more than one quilt for the same line of fabrics?

I am hoping to do another one for a magazine soon….stay tuned!
