Week O’Green …….

Week O’Green …….

And it’s another FOLK Journal Challenge post! I wrote last week’s post just in the nick of time, I am happy to get this one earlier in the week!

Week #12

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY! Do you believe in luck? Figuratively speaking, when have you found a rainbow and a ‘pot of gold’ at the end of a gloomy day?

Okay…..so this post is in the same week, but Late for Saint Paddy’s Day….I’m not Irish anyway, and about the only thing I have ever done is wear green to “celebrate” it.  I do have my favorite Green shirt that I wore for the day. I don’t always wear this one, I have others WITH green, but this is ALL green, and I love it very much…..

So the question is do I believe in “luck”? No.  I do believe in Divine Providence though, and I firmly believe that God is in control of everything.  I believe He allows good and bad in our lives for various reasons. We always LIKE the good and some of us call that “luck”….I don’t think any of us likes the bad, and some may call that bad Karma or Jujoo, or get angry at God for letting it happen.  I am not sure that I have ever been angry at God for the bad things over the years.  I have most likely blamed myself for them all, and Linda often has to remind me that the whole world does NOT in fact revolve around me! (Chock that up to the little self-centered boy in me that has the hardest time growing up….especially in that area)

But back to “luck” or in my mind God’s good things.  Those mainly spring from His mercy and grace I think, and I have been blessed by that for many years. (and when I complain about the bad, I have a few really good friends who remind me to snap out of it and remember the good…..because there is a LOT of it!)

And of course for ME, some of the best “pot of  gold” moments are coming back from a hard day at the DayJob to a box or bag of fabric! Right, fellow fabric friends??   Yesterday was actually a really GOOD day the DayJob, but a very long one, and I came home to find this pot of gold from my friends at Windham:

And just so you know I was thinking of you all on St Paddy’s Day even though I was swamped with no time, I made these Westminster nine patches this morning just for you to enjoy:

9patch2

I have this current fascination with nine patches at the moment.  Do not ask me why. I do not know!

How about you? What do you think about luck, or green, or God’s mercy & grace?

I’m with you on this one! I never say good luck to any one because I do not believe in it either. God is the master designer of our lives. This was a refreshing post to read from a like minded quilter 🙂

  • Luck . . . well I do use the phrase “good luck” and yet I must admit I don’t believe in luck but rather God’s many blessings. Green . . . my favorite color. 9-patch blocks . . . one of my all time favorite blocks. I have a new idea I’ve been contemplating for awhile now involving 9-patch possibilities. I really enjoy reading your journal posts. Keep at it.
