174: We interrupt our regular show…..

Okay people.  Technical difficulties.  No pictures….so what is the point of an entry??  WELLLL…..I could have a mini PRE-GRAND giveaway…what do you think?   Sounds like fun, huh?  So let’s say I give away two sets of 3 fat quarters… one subdued, and one bright.   This would be just a mini giveaway to get ready for an upcoming bigger giveaway with a book and a jelly roll, and some other stuff..

SOOOOOO…..to get into the NO PICTURE giveaway here’s what I want you to do.  First go through my previous posts and pick your favorite post and tell me what makes it your favorite (and you thought I would make this easy on you! Ha!).  Please also tell me if you want the subdued or bright set of fat quarters.

Then to get another chance to win, post a link on your blog and send me another comment telling you did so.  So at least you won’t leave me all lost and alone here at the Blue Nickel without any pictures.  You just have to go back in time to get the pretty stuff.

Hopefully this deathstar blog will be fully operational in no time….(and if you get that last pop culture reference, then send me another comment for a “force-d” third chance to win)….Oh, I really do make this too easy….

May the fabric be with you….

Oh, man, I just crack myself up…

(can you tell I feel lonely {and silly} this morning??)

🙂

Oh, and a deadline for entries….I always forget that!  Let’s say you have until the 1st of July 8AM PST….that works for me!!   Let the lurkers come forth!   🙂

I believe I have been guilty of being a lurker! I don’t know why except to say I am kinda new at this blogging thing. My favorite is two fold. It is the first post I read on your blog and the materials were so great that I added you to my favorites in AOL. It was

  • Having to pick a favourite post is difficult. I can’t search back too far to refresh my memory because I have two teenage boys using the same (lame) internet connection and it’s taking forever to load 🙁 I do like the previous post, Dr Seuss is so cool. The first post of yours I saw was sometime last year where you had some of your fabric on Spoonflower for the best fabric of the week contest. I’ve been coming back to read ever since then.

  • Oh, a blind giveaway! How fun! If I should win, make mine brights, please!

My favorite post is the one that shows your ironing station. The storage below for an extra mat is a great idea! I always enjoy posts that give me a peek into someone’s creative space!

  • I love your non-typical market photos! I find myself taking pics like that a lot! I think I would have to choose a bright fat quarter pack:)

  • I, too, have been lurking! I found out about you through quilt blogs post market.
My favourite post has also been the manhole covers. I had never looked at them as pattern ideas before. They are different from the ’tile in the women’s restroom’ shots, so I remembered them:)
Thanks for the chance. I would go for ‘bright’ fabric. I don’t do so well with ‘subdued’ (except to pile bright on top of them)!
I’ll be back for more chances.

Scott I think I have to pick #158 May the Forest be With you cuz I’m such a sucker for moss and lichen and Mimi’s fairy wine. Though I also love the one before it too cuz it’s in my hood. But honestly my all time fave posts are any in which you mention Linda and the kids =o) Keep it up!

I’d send you a link to my blog but I haven’t posted anything new since last October so your link would get really lonely there. But maybe we could send Hans to keep it company? LOL Thanks!

  • Well, I’m not a lurker. Well, I am, but not here… yet. First time visit & I have to say I love it. Your patterns are wonderful. Can’t wait to add the Christmas one to my “gotta do it in 2 weeks before Christmas” mad rush I always do.

Oh Yeah, your Christmas plan will work! LOL….

  • Well, I put a comment about your site on myspace.

  • I do believe you’re referring to “Star Wars”.

I will love any fabric you send. I’m far from picky.

  • OK, so I couldn’t find the entry but I will be fast to tell you that my favorite postS (yes with an S!) were the ones with all the wonderful pictures of the spools and the birdhouses. OMG! I can’t find them now but I just remember them so clearly, you do take the best pictures ever. I even emailed you when you bought your new camera (now NOT so new, LOL!) because I wanted to find out if you had one of those that required a second mortgage…thanks for emailing me and letting me know that my home was safe, hahaha!
I will be back for more great pics. I don’t “do” color as you do, but you “do” enough color for both of us so I will just enjoy your rainbows.
I follow you on Bloglines and must confess that I have not left a comment in a while and I am just loving this new spool background! (OK so it might not be NEW! but you know what they say,”If you haven’t seen it before, then it’s New! to you…” and it’s new to me, and I love it! B=)

  • Hey Scott! I love your non-traditional market photos… especially the manhole ones! How in the world did I miss those? That’s right up my alley! 😉
I would ALWAYS pick the bright over the subdued… but you probably knew that already!

  • I”m so behind on reading the blogs! Took me so long to get here. Without going back to read stuff I’m remembering a post on a cool bench you made. Loved that!

Thanks Jess, I STILL have to Paint that bench!!

  • Hi Scott! I am actually new to quilting & your blog! I heard about you from Mary of http://www.confessionsofacraftaddict.com. Anyways besides being excited to find another sewing blog from someone who lives just a few hours away (Whidbey Islander here), I LOVE looking at all your fabrics. I am a bad blog reader… I scroll through pics to find posts to read, but your pictures have had me reading about lots of different things. I am DROOLING over that Dr. Suess fabric. I have a serious fabric obsession! lol

Like I said, though I love to sew I am new to quilting, so I will be adding your blog to my blog reader!

Thanks for all the compliments….you do know that I am not YET designing fabrics (someday though!)…but I am blessed with a large stash that is true! And my MIL lives in Coupeville (my wife grew up there and we got married there too!) LOVE Whidbey!

  • My favorite post? Why, this one, of course:
    https://bluenickelstudios.com/?p=991

It’s the one where I won my fabric! 🙂 Did you see my pic on Flickr recently where I used it?

Anyhow, the movie reference from your “death star” comment is clearly “Star Wars”. Too easy, Scott!

I told you I was too easy!!

  • Hi Scott, hope your quilting life is going well….sounds like you are busy!! Are you designing fabric yet? Hope so! ~~Sheri

hi scott! my absolute favorite is the pics of the threads in the branches. it’s such a happy vignette for a bleak winter day. I’d use the bright fat quarter set for a similarly bright and happy spiderweb quilt!

  • I have to agree with Shari, the manhole cover post would be my favorite. It’s amazing how much deatil goes into one of those things, and your reference to deathstar, I think is from Star Wars.

  • I love post 167 with the pictures of the lilac buds! I planted a lilac bush last summer because my parents always had tons of them and I loved the smell of the flowers. I was SO excited to see it bud and bloom this year- I wasn’t sure how it would handle the tough winter we had. Your pictures reminded me of how happy my little lilac buds made me! I’d love the bright set!

  • And my husband would be horrified if I didn’t say I knew what the movie was! We started dating because he saw my name on the schedule at work and thought it said Leia…

  • this is my favorite post because it is how I found your blog!
    I love brights!
I also like your sewing area!

  • I love the manhole covers because they exemplify finding beauty in the everyday and fulfill my high school photo teacher’s “make something out of nothing” assignment. Fun stuff. As for fat quarters, I think I’ll go for subdued. No bright. Um, yeah, really either is cool by me.

My favorite post is 151: Sis Boom Blog-a-view!
Because of your blog I learned about and became a fan of Jennifer Paganelli! It was not only a fun interview but very informative and led me to look for her fabrics online and in stores. Recently I used Sis Boom in a quilt I created with Dena Designs’ Monaco, another line of fabric I found through your website and the marvelous Aviary quilt you designed.

Preferred fat quarters would be in brights but I love subdued fabrics as well! Keep up the great blogging, Scott ~

  • I really liked your post on the Asian Papers you picked up in Seattle. I have to say that the wrapping paper was my favorite of all of them. I love the bright and the bold, and those images are so inspiring!

Which is why I’d want the bold pack if I won! 😉
