Dreamer

You have probably seen this wonderful line Dreamer by Carrie Bloomston for Windham Fabrics out on the fabric shelves for about 3 months now - it came out in March this spring. Carrie's work is so full of depth; I love her brushstrokes mixed with the collage. The little bits of text that show up feature words like "Art" and "Grow" and "XOXO" making for fun reminders of what this craft is all about (for me at least). I like all of the "chalky" colors here...

Sunny Isle

Sunny Isle by Jennifer Paganelli of Sis Boom Fame is another home run for Jennifer and Free Spirit Fabrics. I mean, really, all her her fabric lines are fantastic though, so this isn't really any big surprise. Rich pure colors and layer upon layer or pattern and surprising color combinations. Great florals and geometric prints! How can your spirit not soar, dreaming of tropical shores or sunny summer picnics anywhere!  These saturated colors really pack a punch, don't they?? If you are following my Instagram account, you...

Sunday Drive and Mini New Glory

The Incredible Pat Sloan sent me some of her Sunday Drive line for Moda - sheesh, a couple of months ago (WHERE DOES TIME GO??) And I have been meaning to work it into a couple of different projects. Never happened. Obviously. But the other day, I thought what fun it would be to make a MINI version of my New Glory quilt for the summer. And these cuts had some great Red, Whites, and Blues...

Ghost by Nel Whatmore

Today's post is all about a new line from Nel Whatmore for Free Spirit called Ghost. The palette is made up mostly of Jewel Tones and with some lighter Pastel-like Jewel Tones that serve as value contrast. All of these prints are nice quiet tonals because each print reads as a single color overall. My kind of "solids"!   You can read Nel's thoughts on her design process for the line here. Free Spirit sent me this beautiful line and  I thought my Fireside Chat pattern would look good in...

What Remains

Welcome to the Spirit Animal Post. This line is Tula Pink's latest and much discussed line for Free Spirit Fabrics. The focus print from this line has been been discussed many times over and was pulled from the line even before it hits the store shelves this fall. If fact, the day the fabric showed up here, I had an email requesting that I send back the three colorways of the pulled print that I had just received. I am not really interested in getting into that discussion here at the Blue Nickel....
