Mystique

Mystique Fabric is a new line by Katia Hoffman for Windham Fabrics. Katia sent me some small squares of these beautifully wintery, jewel-tone prints this summer….So really I SHOULD have had time to work on these before Christmas week! I am hoping to make placemats with what I have. But they will not be for Christmas now obviously!

The line is much more in the “traditional” playing field to be sure. Lots of glittery gold highlights.

These ornate Mandala type shapes have so many possibilities!

And of course, I am loving these intensely rich Blues!!

Mystique Fabric is perfect . . .

for the dark nights of winter now descending on the Northern Hemisphere. This line will be showing up in the shops next month, so keep an eye out for it!

These Golds are sumptuous too, aren’t they?!

I also created a fun little Flipagram video on my Instagram feed – you can check that out here.

These grainy stripes on their own will go with so many other prints in my stash! Such great texture!

It’s Officially Winter Now, So I Made Snowballs!

I cut out what 6 1/2″ squares I could squeeze out of what Katia sent me.

Then I turned them into snowball blocks by adding little corners!

Lots of leftover little triangles!

Now I need to see how many scrappy, wonky log cabins I can make to spread these snowball blocks out and make placemats. I don’t think that I will be able to make 6 placemats without adding some other scraps, so I will just see how far I can go. I can probably find something to coordinate with them in my horde stash.  🙂

That’s it for today folks! It’s Christmas Eve as I write this (and it actually started snowing here! A white Christmas in the Pacific Northwest is a rarity!) . . . I imagine you will likely be reading this sometime after this. I hope your holidays are/were wonderful or that at least you were able to get some good creative time in the last few weeks. I am planning on doing a post soon about things I do to keep creativity going when life around me is so very crazy and at times a bit of a downer (the holidays this year have been a bit rough on the edges for me – I will tell you more about that in that post) . . .

So remember to look for Mystique fabric next month when you are out shopping in your town or online if you like these jewel tone beauties!

And as always,
Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,

Scott
