Uppercase Vol 2
Uppercase Volume 2 by Janine Vangool for Windham Fabrics is what I call New Vintage Fabric. Brand New stuff, Current color combinations. Old Timey Feel.
Just my cup of tea!! And since these are nice simple designs, some of them really function very well as solids. My FAVORITE kind of “solids” in that they really are a small print but they read like a solid against the wild florals and prints that I like to use.
I think these prints will go equally well in a modern setting with a lot of solids, but also in with 1930’s and 40’s vintage and reproduction prints.

Totally off topic, but I need to name this little bird pincushion, don’t I? I love this little guy so much!
Lots of Vibrant and Bright Colors in this New Vintage fabric……
So I kind of went overboard with the photos of these prints. I could not just pick one or two to share! I had to share them all! So much beautiful color here.
The Green in the above photo has me memorized lately. It is not quite the Emerald of a Green light in traffic signals — not quite Blue enough, but I have been liking these Emeraldy Greens for a bit now, ever since I saw the sofa in this picture that I reposted on my Instagram feed.
And that Orangey-Red is also an eye-grabber, huh?
They look so great just stacked too! Sometimes I find myself just staring at my ‘Precious’ piles like Gollum from Lord of the Rings, do you do that?
At least half of the line has this great vintage feedsack feel that seems also very current as well as timeless.
There’s that Green again!!
And so I thought I would play with this line in my Sparkle block since it just came out in the last issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.
Once I have designed a quilt, when I make more versions of it, I love to mess with the original “color plan”! These blocks are bit more “controlled” scrappy than the original. I love how swapping the Blue/Green section with the Red bits slightly varies the look. Also alternating points on the star gives a nice variation from the original.
I am also thinking it would be fun to embroider on this fabric. Not sure what I would do, but make sure you are following my Instagram account, I will try to post photos of that there next month (which is actually next year too!!) or sooner!
That’s it for today, Peeps!
Don’t forget,
Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,
