Lemmikki
I don’t know why I always feel like working with Triangles when I encounter any fabric designed by Lotta Jansdotter. Does it have something to do with having Scandinavian blood in my veins? I don’t know….I do know my early years of quilting and designs were anything but Scandinavian Modern….well, I did always like organic designs….maybe that counts…..that is really what I love best about Lotta’s designs!
As I was learning to quilt, I had started with a more primitive prairie style like my friends at Country Threads were doing. Mary and Connie are no longer working in the field, but I know they are still sewing away over there in Iowa! I really loved working in their scrappy, wonky palette of country browns and plaids. But has time has gone on, I have enjoyed a broader scope of colors and usually with very busy colorful prints. All the more reason to be refreshed by lines with more limited busy-ness and color.
Lemmikki has a lot of GREYS in the line. My new Brown, maybe? I have been loving Grey as a background way before the current trend – ever since I saw a friend’s guestroom painted a soft pale Grey. So many nice shades here too!
And I love the other colors in the line of course, but the one that wows me the most is this Emerald! At least that is what I am calling it. It is definitely a very Blueish Green. I am totally enthralled with this color right now. Almost the same color as my Olfa Cutting Mat, huh?
Lotta Jansdotter = Triangles!!
So I mentioned that all Lotta Jansdotter designs make me think of triangles, right? Well, I have had this ongoing project with Maple leaves that you may or may not remember from past posts a few years ago. I thought it would be fun to go back to them with this line! And since there were so many Greys in the line, I made an All-Grey Leaf! SOOOO Urban Folk-sy, am I right?
And then of course a slightly more normal Maple leaf block…as normal goes for me at least……
But what was even more fun was making some 6″ improv blocks from scraps to go with them!!
Aren’t improv blocks fun? I want to keep making them. One of these days you may just see something totally wild from me! I know, I know as if you have NEVER Seen anything wild from me before!
Anywhoo….. that’s my playtime with Lemmikki by Lotta Jansdotter. Hope you enjoyed the visit. You should be able to get this fabric in the Quilt Shops in January 2018 – Actually very soon!
That’s it for now!
Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,
Scott
