Sunny Isle

Sunny Isle

Sunny Isle by Jennifer Paganelli of Sis Boom Fame is another home run for Jennifer and Free Spirit Fabrics. I mean, really, all her her fabric lines are fantastic though, so this isn’t really any big surprise.

Rich pure colors and layer upon layer or pattern and surprising color combinations. Great florals and geometric prints! How can your spirit not soar, dreaming of tropical shores or sunny summer picnics anywhere!  These saturated colors really pack a punch, don’t they??

If you are following my Instagram account, you may have already seen the shirt I created (all by myself, thank you very much) from this line.

It was from this Simplicity Pattern #1493 and I have made other shirts from it in the past. It wasn’t too hard, although let’s just say that the under part of the collar was not my best work ever. (and no, I didn’t use the machine above, It’s just a prop! 🙂 )

Here it is on me….. NOT the best photo of me, but you can see the shirt okay here. There is also this shot on Instagram of it.

And of COURSE I had to make some of my version of  Monica‘s treat totes — I STILL Have to  make more, so you may be seeing more of these in the next week as I get ready for my teaching gig at Quilters Affair that is quickly coming up!

I make mine a little bit smaller than Monica’s original design…. I wonder how well they would work a little bigger – maybe ditch the handles and put batting inside and roll the top down for extra stability — might they make good storage bins?

I do get a bit carried away with photographing these babies. I always enjoy making these bags, but they look exceptionally good in Sunny Isle – don’t you think??

And that’s it for today’s post. I need to get back to sewing more of these bags AND prepping for my classes.

It is going to be a great week (the week after next) hanging out in Sisters, Oregon with good quilting friends and making new ones as well.  You should try to come to the big quilting summer camp/party someday!!

Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,

Scott
