Quilters Affair 2016

Quilters Affair 2016

And the Classes are OUT!!!

Here’s my line up for Summer 2016 Quilters’ Affair Event of the Summer!

I am so thrilled to be teaching in Sisters, Oregon again this summer. This will be my 4th summer teaching there and I am just as excited as ever to be there! Maybe even more. If you were there last summer, you may have heard that I didn’t make it through the whole week due to some extraordinary health issues. I am so looking forward to redeeming last year’s fizzle.

And what better way to do that than starting out with a bang!  My Monday class is Fireworks, designed by my friend Sara Nephew.  This is my original version of the quilt for Sara’s first printed edition of her book Not Your Grandmother’s Log Cabin. Long story, but Sara is republishing it again with another dear friend Marci Baker through C&T. I have taught this class many times and it is so much fun! I actually taught it to sold out classes at Quilters’ Affair in 2012 an 2014. I am pretty sure 2016 will have the same attendance, so be sure to sign up early!

One of the best things about the class this year is that I am teaching it on the Fourth of July!! So look here on the blog for some samples of this quilt in glorious red, white, and blue!!

Soup of the Day is Tuesday’s Class.

Pictured here is the original Split Pea Soup that was published way back in a copy of Easy Quilts by Fons and Porter. I am finally writing up the pattern for this quilt after many requests over the years. Look for the pattern to be available here as a downloadable PDF sometime in late January 2016. I will be working on a blue – orange version that I am calling Blueberry – Mango Soup (not too tasty soup wise, but you’ll love it quilt wise).

Christmas 1964 is my latest published quilt (and one that I never did get featured here before Christmas 2015 🙁  ) You can currently get the pattern for this by picking up a copy of the November December 2015 issue of Generation Q Magazine. I have a few limited copies here at the Blue Nickel or you can pick them up at your local quilt shop or Barnes and Noble.

I will have the pattern available here at the Blue Nickel as a downloadable PDF sometime in April 2016.

And Hugs and Kisses No. 9 will be Thursday’s class. This was the cover quilt for the Premier Issue of Generation Q Magazine. You might be able to get a few copies directly from Generation Q for the pattern, or you can hang tight and I should have a downloadable PDF pattern here at the Blue Nickel sometime in February 2016.

And finally Friday, my most popular pattern, Painted Forest, is going to be a class for a third year in a row at Sisters. I am so happy that so many people love this design. I have plans to give you some glimpses of the forest through many filters this spring – including batiks and a few trees in civil war reproduction fabrics! Looking forward to sharing those with you all. If you make your own version please be sure to tag it on Instagram with #paintedforestquilt . I will be on the lookout for it!!

So that’s the line up. I hope to see you there! It is a blast meeting fellow quilting fanatics! So much creativity, it is a huge boost to your whole year. You really need to come.

That’s it for now.

Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,
Scott

I remember your “Split Pea Soup” Quilt! I totally fell in love with it and with quilting at that point! So wish I could join you at Sisters for your “Painted Forest” and I will be anxiously awaiting your “Hugs and Kisses” pattern as well. Hope 2016 brings you much creativity and joy!
