Day Four #12DaysofColor!

12 days of color logo

Welcome to Day Four of 12 Days of Color! Finally, I am a little bit ahead (for now at least….I have the pictures all loaded for tomorrow’s post as well and I will be working on the blocks for Day six when I get done writing up this post!)

I hope to have a badge for you tomorrow to share you your blog if you would like to help me spread the love of color around the blogosphere. Today I just want to enjoy that little bit of being caught up feeling for a moment or two.  I am continuing on with the Kona New Solids and the Grunge, so those blocks will look similar to what they have been. Today in the True Colors line we switch to Joel Dewberry.  I love these True Colors “blenders” as they are more than blenders to be sure because there are definite prints going on there, but they are quieter in nature. Well, Heather’s were.  Some of Joel’s are just outright bold pattern (and you know I love that anyway!) But they are his classic and best selling patterns I think and they will go with a lot of other lines which I believe is the point of them from Westminster’s point of view.  And I just can’t get enough of that wood-grain print in this line anyway….love,  love,  love it!

Today’s block is from my dear friend Katy Jones over on the Grand Isle of Britain.  I have known Katy by email and in person at a couple Quilt Markets (though NEVER enough time there!!!) And Katy is just such a gem of a lady! Read more about her here in Pat Sloan’s interview and also here on Katy’s own blog. Katy is one busy lady and just recently got even busier!
Here is the PDF for her block.  I love this block because it can so easily be used do some damage on your stash problem…..(note I didn’t say MY stash problem….I don’t have too much fabric….just not enough storage space!)

Here is the Kona block done up in — in Bonsai, Cypress, and Celestial (I had fun popping in that little “hole” in to this heart with the Celestial blue):

D12days Kona4

Here is the first Joel Dewberry True Colors  from Free Spirit Block:

D12days JD1

Here is the fourth Wee Wander From Michael Miller Block (very fun chopped up too!):

D12days SJ4

Here is the Grunge From Moda block (I loved using typical “background” fabrics as the “focus” part of the block):

D12days G4

And here are the Aurifil threads of the day (4649 and 2325):

D12days thread 4

So go ahead and comment away on today’s post for the daily prize as well as a chance to win  some of the big grand prizes at the end of the series (which depending how the rest of this week goes with the Day Job and the Christmas and Birthday festivities here at the Blue Nickel may well take us past Christmas…..I have decided to not stress about getting the posts up daily [ I mean who am I ? Pat Sloan? 🙂  ]…if I just keep plowing away at them, you won’t mind I am sure….Packages in the mail After the Holidays are a nice way of coming off the Peaks of Festivities and avoid some of those “it’s all over” blues, right?)

Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts on colors, fabrics, these blocks etc!

Don’t forget you can be sure to not miss any of these posts by subscribing (right hand column towards the top)

I really like the Grunge block. I’ve got to make something with that fabric. Not too sure if i like the wood grain fabric, a little too busy for me. Maybe if it was in larger not chopped up pieces it would be ok. And I love the line, I don’t have too much stash, just not enough storage! I’m going to remember that one, I know it will come in handy.
