Day Three #12DaysofColor!

Day Three #12DaysofColor!

12 days of color logo

phew! It’s a good thing I never said that this would be the 12 “consecutive” Days of Color!!  WHAT was I thinking doing in this in December!?  Not only are there the every day Christmas shenanigans going on, but Max has his 18th birthday next week AND he also had an operation yesterday.  My one day off that I was going to get so much done for the next few days until Monday my next day off was spent running around for different various things surrounding Max’s operation and Mimi’s going to a friend’s place for the weekend.  So much for that “all day in the studio” day!

So anyway Enough whining! Here is Day Three of the 12 Days of Color with today’s block coming to you from Jeni Baker.  You can read her interview with Pat Sloan here.  And get the directions to today’s block here.

Here is the Kona block done up in — Silver, Storm, and Kale (totally did not mean for this to look like our Seattle Seahawks….but there you go….maybe it’s a Superbowl sign??):

D12days Kona3

Here is the third Heather Bailey True Colors from Free Spirit Block (and this one made me hungry the whole time…all I could think of was chocolate mint everything):

D12days HB3

Here is the third Wee Wander from Michael Miller Block (Loved dumping the “ring” formation for the “churn dash” block concealed with in on this one):

D12days SJ3

Here is the Grunge from Moda block (the “churn dash” is completely absorbed in this one):

D12days G3

And here are the Aurifil threads of the day (2884 and 2615):

D12days thread 3

Sorry there’s not time to talk about these more today.  I have been loving YOUR comments though where you are talking about them.  Tomorrow (hopefully….or maybe this evening!) is Day Four….It will be the last day for Wee Wander and the first day for a new True Colors Designer to appear.  The Grunge and the New Kona’s will continue. I hope by Monday I will be catching up and ahead (same goal as yesterday with hopefully better results!)

Remember to leave a comment each day for the daily prize as well as the grand prizes at the end. The way things are going, I don’t know if I will actually be able to get to drawing names for the prizes until after Christmas…..but pressies in the mail are always more fun in the New Year than the credit card bills, right?

Oh, and I am still going to try to get  a “button” for you to grab and share with your readers if you have your own blog. I also wanted to get some pictures of some of the fabric stacks that are the grand prizes….they are pretty awesome!

Oh, and if you want to like my Facebook Page that would be great with me too!! Helps build “street cred” in the biz….

Keep Sewing, Keep Happy!

Scott

I wish you hadn’t mentioned mint chocolate, I now need to go and raid a selection box. Are selection boxes a British Christmas tradition or do you get them in the US too?

I love chocolate, but never heard of a selection box. Is that a box of candy with a map as to what is in each piece and where in the box. We have those here in the States.

  • Busy Busy Scott — it’s crazy this year with Thanksgiving being so late… Good luck with surgeries and other errands — snowing like crazy here in the NE so home and being really productive (although the shopping is NOT happening right now).

Love the blocks, the colors and the thread — need to go find some Mint Ice Cream though ; )

    Thanks again..

  • I am back to loving Grunge. I can’t seem to get enough of those colors. I am definitely going to have to track those down. But the Kona today was beautiful and Heather’s made me crave chocolatey mint goodness too.

The Grunge really makes the block pattern disappear. My favorite is the Wee Wonder. And chocolate…did someone mention chocolate! If it was earlier in the day I’d go on a search for chocolate.

  • I really like the Kona block, another solid block, I’m so surprised as I said before, I’m not much of a solid color girl.
And if it looks like the Seahawks color, good, cause my Redskins stink this year, again!! Really thought this was the year!

    Hello,
Great job! I’m going to agree with myself from yesterday and like the Heather Bailey True Colors again. I must be hungry because all that I can think of when I look at the center of the block is broccoli? And I don’t even like broccoli. LOL. I sure wish that some of us could help you – this seems like such a huge task for one person to complete along with working a FT job! xo

  • I’ve been piecing 4 1/2 inch churn dash blocks for a quilt for my niece. They are very traditional. While I enjoy making them, after 80, it’s starting to get a bit boring keeping to the strict light and dark. Yours are a lot more fun.

It must be, but isn’t it neat how it looks darker than it does inside the Kale by the Storm? And I hope Max is recovering well from his surgery.
