Grunge Time!

Grunge Time!

Okay so here’s the exciting news! Coats and Clark who are, as I understand it, the parent company of Westminster Fabrics (Rowan and Free Spirit) will be coming out with their own lines of fabric as well.  With their brand on it.  To be honest, the whole the brand/ that brand thing is rather perplexing, but anyway, Eclectic Elements is Tim Holtz’s premier line of fabric with Coats.  And I got to design the below quilt for their Market Booth. As I am at Market now as this post is posting, you may have already seen some glimpses of it. I know Katy got some it to play with and posted a fun sneak peak on her Instagram page earlier this week. And Tim posted it himself last week on his site. As far as I know he is mostly known in the scrapbook world, but there is always a lot of crossover in both of those worlds.

I love the prints in this:

Especially this one:

And here is my quilt Going My Way.  Directions will be available online shortly after Market.  I simply ran out of time before!

And then I made these little bags based on Monica‘s treat totes for some giveaways at Market!

I love these fabrics – the prints in them are fantastic. The quilt you made has a much more masculine feel with these fabrics – unexpected, but not sure why. Those clock faces are wonderful – I could see some really neat things done with fussy cutting too. Those bags are wonderful too – really like those. Have fun at market and share as much as you can about it.

  • Love hearing about Market Scott. Wish I was there. One of these days I hope I can go. As for Tim Holtz fabrics I love them. I’ve always been a fan of his scrapbook stuff so look forward to seeing the fabrics. Sometimes I think my taste are all over the place. Clean modern fabrics, bright colors, always Kaffe, and then there is the vintage antique side I just love. Need a house with many many rooms to hold all my eclectic styles. haha Have fun in Portland.

Love the quilt! Great job with the design; it works really well with the fabric. I am especially excited about the bag idea as I just finished a top and have enough fabric leftover to do the same. I was looking for someway to use the scraps as I wasn’t done with the fabric yet, so thanks again for the inspiration.

  • I used a lot of Tim Holts stuff when I was making Altered Art. I really love his patterns with your quilt design. I think it will look great for guys (the prints) and your quilt pattern for both! Love the modern look to your quilt! I love scraps! Fingers crossed!

I am a quilter and a rubber stamper; and yes a Tim Holtz groupie. I got a “little quilt” at NQA last year that was out of my usual tropical or nautical themes because it looked like something Tim would do. I am so waiting for this material to show up at the stores. Your quilt is absolutely stunning in the way you captured the TH look. I have the matching papers in my stash and could paper piece it today. Really love the bags you made. I had not thought of that. I am so glad Tim linked your blog with his yesterday. I am bookmarking your blog.
I scrolled thru some of your previous posts. Love the World Mystery Tours and the Disneyland video. thanks for sharing and happy sewing!

Your quilt is fantastic!! So great to see a quilt that doesn’t look like the same ol’ same ol’. No floral fabric “wedding ring” quilts for this gal! I have all Tim’s papers and many of his other products and use them frequently in my artwork. So, to see him proceed into textiles is exciting! I found your blog from a link on Tim’s so have now bookmarked yours as well. Oh, I also just adore the bags you made! I love bags of that type for art supplies. Thanks for sharing your progressive pieces made from Tim’s fabrics. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
