285: Ty and Me….
well the mag is already out….I haven’t gotten my copy yet, but things move slow out in the country….even though I am near Seattle. Here is the cover that I have known about since December when I got a “quilting emergency” text message on my phone…. I will tell you more about that over on the Quilters Home blog where I have a guest post coming up soon….I will let you know when it is up over there so you can go read about it.
But for now here is the cover:
and here is the pattern for the quilt that is draped around Ty I believe this will be the only place you can get this pattern. I will also be making this again in the blue/grey colorway for the Free Spirit booth at Quilt Market in Salt Lake City this May. I will show you bits of that as well here. Make sure you get this issue if you don’t subscribe, because it has some of my best friends in this business right there on the cover!!
Here are some pictures that I took along the way. Realize that it was in December that I did this, and I had about 2 weeks or so at my busiest time of year at my DayJob (retail management), so there aren’t a lot of pictures!!
Here’s a little something that I didn’t mention in my Quilter’s Home Blog post. I had a kid brother named Ty whom I lost to suicide about 14 years ago. He was 24 at the time. I miss him a lot even though as he was about 8 years younger than me, he could be a pain in the butt at times…..but I still miss him, and I kinda like that this guy Ty Pennington shares his name. I don’t know if I will ever meet this Ty, but I hope I don’t cry like I am right now…..Was that too much info? Sorry….it’s my blog, and I’ll cry if I want to…..(okay, that just came out too and was impossible to resist, and it cheered me up a little bit, alright?) 🙂
Sew Long for now,
Scott

I just saw this magazine a the store and our mail here in NM runs by pony express once it hits the state borders so it should be near you soon…I didn’t pick it up this time as it wasn’t on the list but I might have to go grab one now…
Its wonderful that you keep your brother’s memory alive in your heart.
Thanks Tabitha….I will always wonder how he would have turned out, if he had just asked for help instead of taking that way out…a good reminder that sometimes we all need a little help….

I’m the guy in the bubble across from you on the back of “Perfect for Pre-Cuts”.

This is a neat quilt! I like how you used the fabrics. I could see where the name would bring back sweet memories of your brother.

I just bought my copy of Quilter’s Home and I’m really digging Ty’s new fabric line. I was so happy to see your name by it all too. Congrats, Scott! 🙂
