283: Front Page News….
well….actually NOT Front Page News is more like it….if you are like me, you have probably had more than your fill of Front Page News this last week. I was behind in my blogging already, and the horrible events across the Pacific in Japan have had me beside myself all week…and it wasn’t a comfortable fit either.
What can one say about the terribleness of Japan’s threefold tragedy….the 9.0 earthquake seems like the least of them all too. Well, the quake was what started the rest, but you know what I am trying to say…you do, don’t you??
Anyway, suffice it to say that I have been pretty bummed out this month. When did that other big problem in Libya start? Wasn’t that March too….and that appears to still be unfolding…..
So for today’s post I thought I would just post something peaceful to help me re-focus on some of the good stuff in this world that God has loaned us for awhile.
It really is beautiful in all its little details, you know?
Even in spite of all the bad news that comes to us from other corners of the world, there is wonder in the details…
And even humor sometimes….
the above is part of the beginning of my first series of quilt patterns that will be for sale in the retail market. It may take me awhile you know, but I thought I would give you a hint of what’s coming….(but sorry they won’t be discounted as much as the future apparently is….that little piece of ephemera just cracks me up every time I see it, so I thought I would share it with you…)
And so that is it for today…..
Actually this post, simple though it is, has taken me 4 days to write!! 4 days?! I know, right? Trust me, It wasn’t me (and no, it wasn’t you either) It was my computer….okay maybe it was me and my computer at odds, but anyway finally the simple post that was going to start out as a Wordless Wednesday Post goes live…..with words and all….
Heather has ramped up Modern Relief again, this time specifically for Japan, and though we are all working on the details, I wanted you to know that I will be having a quilt up for auction and maybe two if the timing goes well.
So keep an eye out for more details on this great cause….Last time they raised about 6K $$ and this time I get to help the cause. I am so excited to help. … Stay tuned.

I think we definitely needed to see these small beautiful pictures of yours after what has been going on….I love the Modern Relief idea….my friend and I are working on a collaborative project to auction off (she is doing batiking and I am doing fabric collage) so I don’t know if I will have time to make a quilt to donate to that project as well but at least i can buy a raffle! Thanks for the reminder of the beautiful details!
Heather
We’ve been on edge since the earthquake in New Zealand. my Niece had been visiting here for several months and she returned there a week or so before the quake. Fortunately she was in Auckland and her friends at University in Christchurch were off at that time.
Thanks for sharing all your lovely pictures.
Glad your niece is okay!! Living on the Pacific Rim is tough sometimes….always wondering…..
