203: Goodnight 2009

203: Goodnight 2009

Well here it is New Year’s Eve again…didn’t we just have that??  We are getting ready to watch UP and Inkheart with the kids, but I wanted to get the “big 200” winners announced here before the New Year….It was REALLY NOT easy to choose, now I know why people choose randomly.  Thank you all for the wonderful descriptions of Bungalow and Cottage….I was realy surprised at some of the responses.   The biggest surprise was the tropical image of Bungalow…It makes sense to me now, but I hadn’t even associated it with the beach, sand, and coconuts……I ended up giving little “titles” to each of the winners for why they stood out to me….

so with very little pomp, and possibly a picture or two later here are the winners in no particular order…

In the Style category, 5. Tabitha O. who wrote on Dec 21, 2009 at 10:01 am…  I loved the overall feel of your comment Tabitha, it was very much what I was looking for in style and content…

In the Hollyhock category, 13. Shelley who wrote on Dec. 22, 2009 at 11:20am…Just to show a “long” answer wasn’t necessary…I picked Shelley’s for the mention of Hollyhocks….which you don’t hear much about these days, and we seem to have the dickens of a time growing them without loosing them to aphids…

In the Colors category, 25. Monique who wrote on Dec. 22, 2009 at 7:50 pm….and the color that caught my eye was “ripe wheat”….I mean really….Monique do you work at a paint company naming colors??   Oh, and Monique also used the word “Sticklyesque” which I am not positive is a word, but would be something that I would say…..

In the Hep cats category, 28. Mab who wrote on Dec. 22, 2009 at 11:16pm ….who yes, won simply for the use of the  phrase “hep cats”  and the word “swingy”….

In the Storytime category, 51. SewLindaAnnon who wrote on Dec. 23, 2009 at 12:23 pm …..I felt like she was telling me a little tidbit about her life at the same time was answering a general question of sorts….

In the Form category, 55. Sherry who wrote on Dec. 23, 2009 at 2:34 pm….Sherry’s entry reminded me of a very long Haiku poem..with beautiful descriptions to boot…..

And last but not least, in the Verbosity category, 61. dolores wrote an incredibly detailed and complete description that still blows me away..

Thank you so much to ALL of you for entering…..Again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the thoughts and 200th blog blessings!!   Here’s to a great 2010 to come and to all you, my “e-friends” as my family calls you!!

And to finish off the new year, here is a picture I drew on the back of the kids menu with a limited selection of crayons, for Linda when we were on our 20th wedding annivesary trip to the ocean…

Rustic charm at it’s finest, eh??   (yeah, I need to work on the faces piece, huh? but it was with cheap crayons, ok??)

Good Morning and Happy New Year to your family. I just read your results with a good cup of coffee and a smile. Besides the fact that you picked mine for storytelling (you were right, it was a personal insight to me and my life) I am really looking forward to re-reading the others. I am especially looking forward to reading Dolores whom you picked for Verbosity. Words are such a great part of the creative life and I do love them. p.s. any picture depicting a lovely wife and a anniversary is worth swooning over!

  • Wow I knew 2010 was gonna be a good one but this is the funniest start yet…’style’ points…oh that is just a belly chuckle and a half which puts the new year off to a terrific start. This was by far one of the most creative contests and I can’t wait to see what you will do in the new year! Here’s to your 20th anniversary, we celebrated our 12th with Chinese food on Christmas eve. momtasticstitchery at gmail dot com

  • I knew you were a swingy hep cat the first moment I saw your happenin’ blog…. Sorry, couldn’t resist! I’m soooooo excited and honored to be chosen as the winner in the hep cat category — who knew that even existed? It’s been fun to go read through other people’s responses, too. Thanks for hosting an original giveaway! Love it! Love the creativity! Love that I won something! (Sorry… still bitter about the 500+ other giveaways I entered in 2009 and didn’t win… gotta move on….)

    Happy anniversary! Precious picture!

Hollyhocks are my new favorite flower HA! I haven’t had much success with my efforts with hollyhocks. I’ve started them from seed, transplanted from a friend’s garden and BOUGHT greenhouse plants…they just don’t reseed themselves very well here….:P I wish you better success….aphids are horrible creatures…a blight on society and nice people! Have a great new year; I anxious to see what 2010 holds for us all.

  • Wow! I am so honored to have won in the ‘color’ category!! And actually, the ripe wheat is the color of my family room! 🙂 It still conveys the style to me, tho. I’d like to think my family room is cottage & bungalow! I can no longer put myself in the “I never win anything” category!!
