177: Catch-up & mayo please…..

Yes, more catch up photos…actually some of these are new (or in one case an old scan of a “very old” picture)…You know I say catch up as if I actually will…..I highly doubt that will happen…but I like to think it might.    Humor me, okay?

Here are some Courthouse Steps blocks I made with Kaffe Fassett’s newest line for an ad campaign for Stash Quilting Company.  I have another set of blocks using Valori Wells’ new Del Hi collection that I need to get worked up for them too!

Linda made this guy for an article she is working on regarding a sculpting technique she came up with using plastic Halloween skulls…And since this one was Blue one, I thought I could borrow him from her post over here…Thanks, Darling!

Okay and here is the shocker for those who know me…this  next picture is me about 22-23 years ago….about 1/2 my current age…If  THIS doesn’t spark  some comments from you people who know me, then I don’t know what will.  me 1986 or soYou know I really had a pretty good time back then, even though I remember being kinda lonely and  lost at times.  This is at the Sea Lion Caves on a trip to Oregon with my best friend and roommate at the time, Nate.  I think we were with his fiancee at the time (he ended up marrying someone else actually) I was the third man out (as usual), but I did have a pretty good trip anyway.   And no those curls were not natural…..the color was, but not the curl…and I was so THIN back then…sigh….

love stamps

Love stamps1  I always love stamps and try to get the most wonderful ones documented and scanned..I loved the designs on this set.   I noticed them posted at the office before the postal rates went up, but they weren’t available yet. So they are now…go get yourself some…they are so fun.

Right now I am listening to “Le Freak”  and “Grease” on Pandora…I am presently on my “Boney M” station…if you even know who Boney M is, you MUST comment…very few do…anyway Middle Age has hit I guess…this music is over 20 years old (almost 30 some of it) and it feels so like it was just yesterday…

Well that is enough for now.  Not really, I have so much more to show and say, but I am out of time this am as I write.  Gotta go to the job that I do for $$ and Health Benefits…Not as interesting or fun as the design work, but gotta keep life going don’t we.
Hope you enjoyed today’s catch-up…there will be more…there always is!!

Keep Happy, Keep Sewing,

S.

  • It always amazes me how early you get up. I am NOT a morning person, so I sleep in as late as I possibly can every morning and STILL when I get up, it feels like I could sleep for another 2 hours. Today I got up just a couple of minutes ago… 7:15 am my time which would be 5:15 your time. I go into Twitter and what do I see right at the top? Scott Hansen saying something or other about an ancient self-portrait. Dude, it’s way too early for me to say anything clever or funny. I still have one eye closed (literally). I can’t believe you are up, tweeting, blogging and being so cheery! Oh, how I wish I was a morning person! Anyway, I thought you were maybe the same age as Jon & I but you are a few years older… haha. And what is that, a perm? Gosh, if I ever gt brave enough to post pics of me from 20+ years ago, you all would have a heart attack. I was a total GOTH… black everything! Anyway, I guess I have to go get the kids ready for camp now… and try to get my left eye to open. Later!

  • Wow Scott! That perm is so very 80’s! Fun picture (man I miss the Oregon Coast)!

LOL, I had a perm once. I got all kinds of comments on it. I was also really thin once. Yikes, that was a long time ago.
I know and love Boney M. I used to be a disco DJ in the 70’s and 80’s and they were one of the bands that I liked, but the locals didn’t. They wanted to hear the pop radio stuff. Sigh.

  • ‘Ra-Ra-Rasputin, Russia’s greatest love machine’. . . Oh no, Scott, our cultural influences keep crashing into each other! My husband has a Boney M record or two and I loved listening to them during my university years – 13 years ago! They still make me smile. My kids aren’t so impressed when I sneak them on the record player. (my husband’s an audiofile – we still listen to tape cassettes as well!) Thanks for the memories. Love your Kaffe blocks.

  • OMG! OK, don’t laugh but the first thing I though of when I saw youe pic was “where’s Olivia Newton John?” LOL!! And then I read that you were listening to Grease, well it’s no wonder…you had the look, hahaha!

Sorry Scott but the first thing I thought when I saw your picture was Wolfman! I loved the one eye closed look. I come from a curly headed family, my brothers would have paid to not have had hair like that in the 70’s.

Love the Fassett blocks, I just went to the Sisters quilt extravaganza and saw many quilts using his lines…I love all the bright colors. Thanks for sharing.

Boney M!! We have the Boney M Christmas album which my husband has digitized because it just ain’t Christmas at our house without a little Boney M. Thanks for the memory 🙂 By the way I think I had the same ‘do back around the same time only mine was blonde and my colour was natural too. I looked something akin to a pedigreed poodle.

Poodle-Do’s Rock! Hey a Boney M Christmas Album? That is so cool Mary’s Boy Child by them is one of my favorite Christmas songs!!
