Blog Hop Party!

December 8th, 2011

Welcome to the Blue Nickel stop on the Blog Hop Party tour!  I am helping Michele celebrate Quilting Gallery’s 4th Birthday party!

So welcome to the party.  Hope you enjoy what you find here at the Blue Nickel.  please feel free to check out previous posts and other pages here.  I know that I am not the best at some upkeep things on the extra pages here, but I have been doing some fairly regular posts.  Mostly quilty stuff shows up, but there is more to me than quilts so there are other posts too…

I know you are busy running around these blogs all day today,  most likely along with a few other things you might be doing this month. So I don’t intend on taking a lot of your time.  I am just posting some  pix from our studio and home and then at the end the picture of the giveaway pack

And here is the Blue Nickel Prize for the Blog Hop Party, an assortment of springy type fabrics for those in the Northern Hemisphere to dream about  coming, and for the Southern hemisphere to enjoy right now (12 Pleasingly Plump Fat Quarters):

Please leave a comment telling me either what is on your kitchen table today or what is your favorite holiday ornament.  I know, two very random and different choices there.   I will randomly pick from the comments next Saturday the 17th.   Also stop by here again on Monday the 12th for the Sew Mama Sew! giveaway as well, with a different prize to choose from!

My kitchen table has an assortment of papers scattered all over: receipts, grocery lists, magazines, important work paperwork, etc. Oh, and of the course, the chocolate advent calendar! Thank you for the giveaway!

My favorite Ornament is my Spun glass hearts. I’ve had them for years and they go on my tree each year to twinkle in the pretty lights. Thanks for the Giveaway.

  3. Kathy Schmidton 09 Dec 2011 at 5:48 am

My kitchen table is holding all the Christmas presents we bought yesterday. I have to get them hidden this morning, since my grandson will be here later today! So much for the rules—now I just need to tell you how much I like your work. I’ve been following your blog for a while now and it’s been fun seeing your hard work get more and more recognition. Thanks for sharing with us!

My favorite Christmas ornament are glass balls. Simple and elegant. I love how the lights on the tree reflect in them.

    Thanks for the lovely giveaway!

  5. Flaunon 09 Dec 2011 at 6:45 am

The mail is currently on my kitchen table. LOL! When I get home, though, there will be grilled cheese (made with rosemary sourdough and Dubliner cheese) and roasted red pepper and tomato bisque. The perfect comfort food combination on a day that will have a high only in the teens. Gotta keep up my strength for all the quilting I’m trying to finish before Christmas!

  6. Cherieon 09 Dec 2011 at 7:35 am

My favorite ornament is one my Grandma made out of beads. She’s not with us anymore but I hang it every year and remember her.

  7. DianeYon 09 Dec 2011 at 8:56 am

Ha! My kitchen table is a mess right now! Yesterday’s mail, other mail I need to do something about, hubby’s pills, an empty water bottle & a tattoo glove I somehow bought at a swap meet last week!

  8. Sandra Timmonson 09 Dec 2011 at 11:09 am

My kitchen table right now is a disaster. There is a small calculotor with checking account paperwork; quilting supplies and material for a quilt I’m trying to work on and Christmas wrapping paper, scotch tape and recipe ideas. The most fun part is a vey persistant and noisy cat that wants to check all of this out – for me and for her. My favorite ornament would be the deer one. I just love deer. I also enjoy your blog very much. All of the pictures; the videos and all of your clever ideas. Thank you for a chance to win and have yourself a very merry Christmas.

My first table topper is on my kitchen table (really needs to be updated!), a fruit stand (that has no fruit in it or my little guy would be taking bites and putting them back), and a broken handmade plate that my little girl made (it’s broken because my little guy threw it on the floor).

Right now I’m eating lunch and on my table is a delicious bowl of turkey peanut soup. Yum! Great way to use leftover dark meat!

  11. Lynn Woodon 09 Dec 2011 at 1:17 pm

My kitchen table has a pile of papers for recycling, an Amish wooden bowl, and a flier for a fabric store.

My favorite ornaments are the ones my children have mad over the years.

  12. Perrion 09 Dec 2011 at 6:46 pm

My favorite ornament is anything snowman. I have collected them for years; however, I limit myself to one a year and it really has to “speak” to me. My table has several items my father brought to me over Thanksgiving from my grandmother, who passed away many years ago. They are interesting reminders of time gone by.

  13. Dacia Reidon 09 Dec 2011 at 7:10 pm

On my table is a big bowl of mandarin oranges, opened mail, a hairbrush and gloves. This is a good day as I usually can’t see the top of the table. Dacia

  14. LeAnnon 09 Dec 2011 at 7:18 pm

My kitchen table has my 36” x 24” rotary cutting mat on it right now. I’m working on some handmade Christmas gifts—feeling a little like one of Santa’s elves.

  15. PattyKon 09 Dec 2011 at 7:56 pm

I can barely see the top of my kitchen table right now. My 9 yr. old daughter has taken it over. It has her paper crafting supplies and markers with projects in various stages of completion on it. She decided she would make the gift tags this year :-). She also has her huge basket of nail polish sitting there in case of a nail disaster (while working with all that paper, it could happen). The Hello Kitty cd player is waiting on the far corner to be part of an impromtu dance recital. I do see my orange Fiestaware candle holders peeking out from the middle of the table. Yep, it’s time to change those for something more Christmasy. Thanks for a chance to win.

  16. Sarah Non 09 Dec 2011 at 8:00 pm

Today my kitchen table is covered in Christmas craft projects – both mine and the kids’.

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  17. KZKon 09 Dec 2011 at 9:00 pm

My favorite ornaments I make by tying my husband’s old Army brass buttons to the tree branches with bright red ribbons. I also have a few of my cad’s. The Army wives on the frontier back in the 1800s used to do this – I love following their tradition!

My kitchen table currently has a bowl of chips on it left over from eldest bear’s birthday party this morning. That’s it though, no dinner cos his requested dinner was KFC.

  19. Velitaon 09 Dec 2011 at 11:15 pm

My kitchen table is a mess right now! Let’s see it has my husbands work laptop, 2 WIP, a glass and tile bit ( for a 3rd WIP), a bag of stuff from Joann’s for 4th WIP and a couple pretzels my baby girl stashed in between things! Love the fabric giveaway so cheery : ) Merry Christmas!!

  20. katieQon 09 Dec 2011 at 11:16 pm

After reading the other comments, I don’t feel so guilty about the fact that my kitchen table is covered with today’s mail and coupons for Christmas sales.

My favorite ornaments to place on the tree are assorted German glass fruits and vegetables that my children bought each year when they were little. My birthday is the week before Christmas so my husband would take them to a year round Christmas tree shop and they would each pick an ornament for my birthday. Some women have jewelry, I have Christmas ornaments.

  21. Elizabeth McDonaldon 09 Dec 2011 at 11:21 pm

Our kitchen table has fresh vegetables that we bought from the produce vendor who comes to our apartment complex every Wednesday, and 2 pairs of cherished Christmas salt and pepper shakers. My favorite ornament is a hand painted head of my cat, done by my mother. She has been gone for 13 years, and I love the connection to her!

  22. Franon 10 Dec 2011 at 12:11 am

My kitchen table is serving as the cutting station for a quilt that I’m trying to finish as a Christmas gift. So it’s messy & there’s no room for anything else at the moment.

  23. Evelene Sterlingon 10 Dec 2011 at 1:01 am

My favorite ornament is a quarter moon Santa I picked up on a vacation in Carmel California.

  24. Anaon 10 Dec 2011 at 1:20 am

  30. MaryBethon 10 Dec 2011 at 6:18 am

Wow, I just decorated my Christmas tree yesterday. Trying to pick just ONE favorite ornament is impossible. I have one of those eclectic trees with ornaments the kids made 25 years ago to the ones we’ve made last year!! So I’ll go with what’s on my kitchen table. Yesterday’s mail and the American Girl doll clothes cabinet that I’m painting for my grandaughter for Christmas. Merry Christmas!

  31. Shelley Con 10 Dec 2011 at 6:33 am

My kitchen table is covered with ‘stuff’. It is our dumping ground, and hubby and I usually have to shove stuff over to eat our dinner! not a good housekeeper huh. It’s the first things people see when they come in clutter…it’s driving me crazy! I really need to clear it off today and keep it cleared for the holidays…who will notice all my nice Christmas things otherwise?

  32. grapes and heartson 10 Dec 2011 at 6:36 am

We had a pre-christmas party at work yesterday night, so there’s only some quick pasta on my table and I’m heading for bed right after eating :) Thanks for the giveaway!

  33. Mary Valaikaon 10 Dec 2011 at 6:49 am

My favorite ornaments are a set of hand-carved wooden mniature toys, sent to us many years ago from Germany when my brother-in-law was stationed there. My kitchen table is a catch-all I’m afraid, functions as a desk. It has the laptop, the mail, the bills to be paid, the grocery list etc.

  34. Monicaon 10 Dec 2011 at 7:14 am

My table currently has bills and junk mail sitting on it. Not very exciting I know.

  35. Beaon 10 Dec 2011 at 7:31 am

My large oak table has a quilted Christmas table runner and on top there are darling gingerbread-related figurines. One is a Grandma with a plate of ginger cookies and the other is a gingerbread house. In the middle is a floral assortment with candy canes and sparkly glitter.
For the past 9 yrs. it is a tradition that my 4 grandkids come over and we make and decorate gingerbread boys. When they fall asleep my husband and I hide them and they look all over the place for them. That is the most fun!
Happy Holidays to you and yours,

Well…I don’t really have a kitchen table…but there’s one on the lanai that we eat at every day and it holds a lace tablecloth with a lazy susan on it which holds paper, pen, the latest plant cutting that we’re rooting and napkins with a magnifying glass paper weight to keep them from blowing away! Oh yes, and toothpicks.

On my kitchen table tonight is our kitschy Christmas table cloth, the recipe for Thai pasta (which I made yesterday and haven’t re-filed), three candles in red glass candleholders, and a small porcelein snowman. I’m trying not to leave stuff on the table, and dressing it up is helping me treat it as something other than a way station.

  97. Anneon 11 Dec 2011 at 7:04 am

My favorite is a Hallmark ornament I purchased in 1981, the year my husband and I married. It’s silver and features a couple ice skating in unison. Beneath the couple, its states: Our First Christmas Together. :-)

Love your giveaway and thanks for the chance to win it.

My favorite ornament is a little handmade Irish girl. When money was very tight, myself and a neighbor used oak-tag paper, wooden beads (for the head) and yarn and felt to make little doll ornaments dressed in the garb of many countries. Even though I can say that now times are not tough for us, these remain on my tree and always will as a reminder of how we can still be happy even when we are struggling! Even though you didn’t ask, right up there with this ornament would be the few ornaments I have that were made by my children many years ago.

Hey, there. I’m from the north Georgia mountains (USA) and on my kitchen table is a basket I made with peanuts in it. Next to that is a jadite 1950s small mixing bowl with peanut SHELLS!

On my kitchen table is a stack of mail and bills that I really need to sort through. I just haven’t had the time because I’ve been too obsessed with all these fabulous giveaways!
    Your decorations are very festive!

Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to win that lovely bundle of fabric goodness!
    Have a Merry Christmas!

Oi, I hate to say this but my kitchen table has a few dirty cups, a large pile of paperwork, some books and a tissue box on it at the moment… Maybe I can make a nice table topper to distract from all of that if I win these fabrics!

On my kitchen table today is a container of white chocolate gingerbread cookies (yummy with coffee), a container of sugared walnuts a couple of recipes for the next batch of goodies to be made and a very large messy stack of bowls and plates to fill for neighbors and friends. Oh and a plant that is outgrowing its pot! Merry Christmas!

My favorite ornament has changed several times this holiday season. At first I loved these wonderful beaded ornaments I found on Etsy made by TFDelta (absolutely gorgeous!) Then my 2 year old brought home his first ornaments made in preschool. I am in love! He has a pinecone drizzled with glue then topped with glitter, and a paper plate wreath that he pasted some green tissue paper to. I was so excited to hang them on our tree!
Thank-you for the chance to win!

My kitchen table is a mess as it also is my sewing table. So I have fabric, cutting items, a plant and our bible on the table.

Are you sure you want to know what is on my kitchen table? Really? Ok…you asked….papers…and lots of them. A variety of kids homework, my husbands recent medical appointment documents, some coupons and some drawings my children have made….scary mess of a table!

I collect Christopher Radko ornaments so those are my favorites…I like the shiny colors.

    Smiles,
    Kelly

My kitchen table is buried in wrapping paper right now. I was going to work on wrapping some things this evening, but I have to get all these entries in before tomorrow – ha.

I don’t have a kitchen table right now, so the ornament it is – my favorite is a little cross-stitched mailbox (on that plastic-type base) with a working flag and these teeny-tiny letters to Santa inside. They usually don’t change, but every few years a new one will mysteriously appear.
Thanks for the opportunity to win! :)

Gifts that need to be wrapped are on my kitchen table and yesterday’s mail. I like Hallmark series ornaments. Merry Christmas! Kd

    Love those fabrics!

My favorite Christmas ornament is a fish that my father bought for me at Corning glass ware. It is a fish very pretty.

My favorite ornament is a little sheep that I received as a gift several years ago from a ‘secret sister’ exchange at church. It was the beginnings of a sheep collection that is still going strong. It reminds me of the tender care we receive from our Shepherd…especially this time of year!! Be blessed!

What is on my table? A brand new Christmas table runner I just received from a friend.

On my kitchen table are 2 decorated hurricane lamps, placemats, and 2 piles of various paperwork, magazines, and junk mail. Terrible but true! Thanks for the opportunity!
