tonite’s sky was just incredible….the picture is kinda fuzzy…took it without a tripod….just fascinating isn’t it?  It sort of looks like a painting doesn’t it??

I did this mostly because my friend Valori Wells posted a bunch of cool cloud pictures on her blog recently…and ever since I read her post, I have been noticing the clouds more.  I always have loved clouds, but I now want to take pictures of them.  Thanks for the inspiration, Valori!

What inspires you in nature?

    Great photo! Love those colors!

Trees speak to me. I love seeing the trunks/branches reaching to the sky; leaves trembling in even the slightest breath of wind. Bold evergreens against a stark or barren background; sentinals. Yup…I love trees! Even the smooth lines of driftwood; twisted and knarly…you may start taking pictures of trees now….I will swoon upon reading and seeing them on your blog…:)

Very cool Scott, I love the harvest moon. I’m inspired by clouds too and tree trunks and leaves.

  • Charlie sent me over!! So I like your blog–VERY inspirational. I think what inspires me is just looking at different fabrics in stores and getting the ideas running through my head from that. I see a pattern in a book with the finished quilt next to it and get inspired. So, all in all, fabrics and pictures really get my creative side revved up nicely:)

  • Great shot! Looks just right to get you in the mood for Halloween! I love the shape and texture of trees. We have tons of different trees around our property and I just like walking around taking shots of them! By the way, I found you from over at Qubee Quilts!

Hi. I tried to sign up for e-mail subscription, but it’s not working. I came to you via Charlie – he sent me! I’m inspired by all of your wonderful quilters out in blogland. I have no “vision” and usually cannot look at fabrics and patterns and know what looks good. So I go out and look to see what all of you “gifted” ones are doing and then I copy. After all, they say imitation is the best form of flattery. I hope that’s true. Because folks like you are uber-talented. dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com

  • You know it reminds of one of those renaissance paintings where you see people being hauled up from Hell amidst the roiling clouds. Great photo!

Charlie sent me! I love clouds — I paint as well as quilt, and clouds, realistic looking clouds, are really difficult! My inspirations for my quilting are, frankly, other quilters, and then I take off from there. I’m enjoying your blog and I hope I signed up correctly to be a follower!

  • cool nighttime picture! I came over from Qubee Quilts to check out your blog. Let me see, what inspires me in nature? I’d say the colors — how everything seems to go together. And, you can’t fail with green with another color. Most of the time anyway. LOL. 🙂

I’m inspired by sunrises and sunsets, the range of colors of the variety of grasses in the fall on the roadsides, the shapes of the snowdrifts in our prairie yard in the winter, the ever-changing sky, my perennial flower beds, beach scenes, what hoarfrost does to the trees, and any kind of wildlife. The sounds of nature inspire me, too – there’s something about the fluttering sound of trembling aspens in the breeze, the call of migrating geese which we’re hearing around here right now, the whinny of our ponies, sounds of gulls at the beach. And smells! The fresh smells of the evergreens and tamarack, how the outdoors smells after a rainshower, the smell of my puppy, and call me crazy, but even the smell of horse manure if it’s not too strong! I love it all! :o)

Charlie sent me. I’m looking forward to reading your blog in the future. . . I’m new to the world of quilting.
