187: taking it down a notch….

August 30th, 2009

Taking down the amount of projects that I pour myself into??  No, are you kidding??  We are just taking the palette down to a more reserved feeling on this project that I am working on with Amy from Indygo Junction.  She designed this marvelous fabric based on the Sew It Book that she recently had reprinted.   I met Amy at Quilt market this last spring and we discussed me doing a quilt with this line that I had heard was coming out.  Finally I am working on it.  Here are the fabrics in all their classic red/black/beige glory…...sew it book fabric  sew it fabric 2  sew it book fabric 3

We haven’t worked out all the details on what we are going to do with this quilt, but I thought I would share these teaser shots..The top is close to being completed…and then Amy and I will be deciding what the next step will be.  I know this comparatively restricted palette might come as a shock to some of you…but I actually started quilting in the 90’s with a far more “country” look than I usually do now….and every once in awhile I like to go back to it.  I am hoping that this line will do well, and that Amy may break out some more colorways in this line…Blue and Orange/Yellow anyone??sew it sneek

These blocks will not end up like this, but there are a LOT of half-square triangles in this project.   sew it triangles

Can’t reveal anymore until Amy and I decide the venue for offering the pattern…That’s all for this post folks…there is a whole lot more going on here at the Blue Nickel, but you know there is only so much time in a day….I am getting things ready for that big giveaway that I have been promising for what seems like forever….Keep checking back, I will get to it eventually.

School starts soon, our oldest, Noel, will be in Running Start this year for his Junior year, spending most of his time at the Community College.  He will be taking the county bus everyday….It may sound funny, but it kind of feels like he is growing up a bit too fast for me…Wasn’t he just in kindergarten??  I know he’s an inch taller than me,  and I just need to let go…it’s a gradual thing I guess.  Everyday is a step towards the empty nesterworld…

What’s up in the wrapping up of your summer??

HSTs are so versatile, whatever you come up with I am sure will look great! There’s no ramping down for us. When the weather turns fall-ish, I go high gear into being creative. There are Halloween costumes to be made, autumnal wall hangings, and Christmas gifts to make, lol.

    Hey Scott,

I’m Amy’s assistant, Cheryl and we met at the Show also. I love what you’ve done so far. I can’t wait to see the final quilt all done up. Great job!! Hope to see you again in Houston.

Red black and white are my nephew’s favorite colors. Used to be my daughter’s too. Great combo. Love all the sewing fabric.
