Linen and Lawn

Linen and Lawn

Today’s post is about another line of fabric – a cotton lawn with mostly tiny prints. Does it feel like the 1970’s again with a broader range of color and range to you like it does to me? There is an abundance of little floral prints out there in regular quilting cottons and cotton lawns that remind me very much of the 70’s.  I really like this Linen and Lawn line by Sue Daley. I met Sue in May at Quilt Market — Super Delightful Australian lady very skilled at English Paper Piecing (EPP). And this line of hers is pretty awesome. For one, it feels a little sturdier that other lawns that I have worked with, but still maintaining a nice drape as well. I can see how this could be very workable in EPP. AND it is 60″ wide which is kind of nice!

Loving the very summery palette here.

The awesome peeps at Riley Blake send a little extra of three prints and Linda made two dresses from Simplicity Pattern #6460.

She says they are pretty easy to stitch up and very easy comfortable everyday dresses.

The back tie is a nice detail. These prints are a bit hard to tell the front from the back, but it came in handy on this tieback – No need to double up fabric.

I want to frame some of the embroidered bird and flower blocks that my mother-in-law Betty gave me this spring. But I think I will need to wait until fall on that for now.

And then I need to make more of these Union Jack blocks designed by Molli Sparkles. These prints will be perfect with the other blocks the guys in the NGAQB made for me and the ones I have been slowly adding! I am lovin’ these four from Linen and Lawn!  I am really looking forward to that quilt when it is done!!

Summer is in it’s heydey now so it is kind of warm up in the studio, and it’s hard to get work done up there. And there is so much to do lately. But I am hoping that I can combine these prints with some other beautiful lawns that I have been hoarding into some very lovely quilts for next summer! The Summer of Les Petites Prints ….sounds rather peaceful, huh?

That’s it for today. Praying for rain here.

And like most of the signatures in your high school yearbook – Stay Cool!

Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,

Scott
