Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year, peeps!

And I am so excited to have all the new people stopping by the Blue Nickel for the Splendid Sampler Bonus Block and Deco States Giveaway! Make sure you leave a comment on that post for a chance to win!

Today’s post is mostly about the Big Day coming up at the Stitchin’ Post in two days. January 5th is the day you can start signing up for Quilters’ Affair Classes this coming summer in Sisters, Oregon. There is a GREAT line-up of fabulous teachers this year. If you have never been to this event, you really should try to make it. So much creativity crammed into that week. And so much inspiration in the community there. It’s a beautiful thing!

Here’s a list of the classes I’ll be teaching. So excited to see what my fabulous students do with these this summer!

Monday – July 3rd – Twister

This is one of of the two classes that I wasn’t able to teach in 2015 when my body just broke down on me during the second half of the week. Long story. Glad to be giving it a second go. I was so devastated that I couldn’t see all of the variations of this pattern.

Tuesday – July 4th – Boom!

And here’s the other class that I couldn’t complete that fateful year! I am thrilled to see if we get some people doing this in Red, White, and Blue because class is on the Fourth of July. Also, watch the blog for some other alternative colorings. Some students who sewed that day (even though I was unable to stand and teach class) came by my hotel room after class and showed me some AMAZING Recolorings of this that I would not have imagined!!

Wednesday – July 5th – Painted Forest

And here is my most popular class. It has sold out early for the last three years running. So if you want to get this one, make sure you sign up early. I am still amazed at how well this pattern has continued to be my best seller. This first picture was my original version before I added variations to the trees. I don’t show it that often, but I recently found the photo and thought I would give you an idea for another coloring of the pattern.

Thursday – July 6th – Break Out!

The pattern name for this one is Flame On! mostly due to the coloring of this original. I love when I teach this one because there are  so many options. I have always envisioned this in a narrow wedge of the color wheel but with lots of prints. If you check out my cover slides on the intro page of the Blue Nickel Studios site, you will see my student, Rhiannon’s rainbow version. I still am wowed by her conceptualization of the pattern!

Friday – July 7th – Garden Gate

And here is my newest pattern, Garden Gate. Took these pictures on a trip to Leavenworth and Ohme Gardens near Wenatchee, Washington. We got so many good shots of this quilt, it was hard to narrow them down for pattern.  Looking forward to seeing variations of this one as well. Hoping that someone is adventurous enough to reverse the light and dark value plan on it!

That’s it for today.
I do pray that you have a very happy and blessed New Year.

Be sure to sign up for your classes early, both mine and the other teachers, as class sizes are fairly limited.

And as always,
Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,

Scott

Signed up today for Twister. Looking forward to another “Scott” class. A week in Sisters is not complete without spending a day with you.
