Hash About

Hash About

I have been waiting to see this published so I can share it with you. SOOO excited about my second all Cotton and Steel quilt for publication, this time with American Patchwork and Quilting!

Usually I am not super fond of “one-liner” quilts where I just make a quilt from one line. But fabric companies like that, you know? Technically, I guess they like to see just their company’s lines, but I digress.

That is why I love working with Cotton and Steel because even though they present “one-line” each season, it’s not just one line.  With the five EXTREMELY talented designers, PLUS guest designers, the “line” has a lot of variety and the colors coordinate beautifully, even from season to season. An excellent game plan, really.

So anyway  onto Hash About.  Look for this cover on the newsstands now.

Then look inside!

Here’s Hash About laid out in a great room. Just as it should be.

I basically created two sizes of free form #hashtags in what a student this summer called my “prescriptive improv” style. I like that description – it fits a lot (but not all) of my patterns. Imrov elements within a definitive framework.

Then I laid them out in somewhat, but not completely, orderly rows divided by rows of  little square “dots” (my kind of dots! 🙂 )

I love seeing flat shots like this of my projects. You don’t really get to see that when you are working on them close up.

I also love how American Patchwork and Quilting always does a second colorway. It helps readers see other possibilities with different color schemes.

This wall quilt version is made using Kathy Deggendorfer’s Wild by Nature for Maywood Studio for a completely different look.

That’s it today, except to remind you to go out and pick up your copy off the shelf while you can.

Keep Sewing, Keep Happy,

Scott
