Well, I finished the Pastel Flame On! top.  What do you think?

If you missed it, I showed you the beginnings of this quilt here when I introduced David Walker’s Sweethearts line for Free Spirit Fabrics.  I am so delighted with how different this quilt looks compared to the original.

Below is another picture of a student’s version of Flame On! that I spotted in the Ray’s Grocery in Sisters, Oregon last summer. The quilt was done in class July 2014 and showing in Ray’s the whole week of the Quilters’ Affair event in Sisters last July.  Don’t remember the student’s name (I am so sorry!) but I do remember that she was using all wine themed fabrics. Sorry for the poor photo quality. I took the picture with my phone, but obviously the settings were not set correctly. You can get the jist of it though. And again, a totally different look.

SOOOO …. let’s have a give away of some Sweethearts fabric, shall we?

This time I will be giving away a bunch of scraps and 2 1/2″ strips that I cut here in the studio on my Big Shot die cutter. I went rather quick on the 2 1/2″ strips, so they may be a little bit skewed in the center if I didn’t get them lined up perfectly. But hey, they’re free, so I think I can be forgiven.

Since I have two prizes, we’ll have one given away here on the blog and another given away on my Instagram page (My home away from home!) .

Let’s have your comments be about sweet stuff, people, or things that you love! Goes with the “theme” and open to a wide array of subjects.

I will draw names for this next Thursday in the AM on the Pacific Coast Timeclock.

Comment away!

Keep Sewing, Keep Happy!

I love my husband, children, grandchildren and quilting. I have a very large pile of quilts I need to get quilted and drop off at Hospice and the Women’s shelter but I enjoy the piecing so much that I haven’t got around to the quilting part.

Getting ready to make a peach pie for my sweetie from Georgia peaches that we bought fresh and froze last summer. A little golden sunshine on a cloudy cold winter day.

I do love hearts! Such pretty fabric. A few of the things I love: God, my husband and children, my sweet little Morike, kind friends, sewing, dark chocolate, great books, purple, curvy country roads, walks along a beach and naps.

  • What a terrific design for a quilt. Different fabrics really do change up the look! I like it when I can’t pick out how quilts are pieced without really, really looking.

I’m sewing a bit almost every day again, and I’m improving and getting more comfortable. So that’s something I’m very happy about. The One Month Goals and different online challenges I have taken on for 2016 have so far have really helped me to stay on my target for working to finish older projects and to work on new ones too.

My sweet surprise was a few weeks ago when our son invited me to have a standing lunch with him on Wednesdays. This has really made me happy. As a result of the lunches, we are already getting more comfortable with chatting with each other again too. It’s what I’ve dreamed of for a while, so that’s my greatest love right now!!

    Thanks for the chance!

  • I love how the two quilts appear so very different. Same pattern shows the fabrics brilliantly. Love my kids and as one is lacking in a quilt, this would be awesome for her!

Just love the pastel color quilt! I am not a fan of bright colors… although we lived long enough in Asia which was such great time in our life – with all those colorful days where they always celebrate something. So I can say love traveling, eating and learn any kind of handcraft from different cultures. Tried a lot, but sticked with quilting 🙂 Best wishes from Paris!
