LAST Spring Market Giveaway!!

LAST Spring Market Giveaway!!

I am super sad that I didn’t get to go to Houston for Fall Quilt Market this year….but so far, I  have never been to Fall Quilt Market, mostly due to Day Job conflicts.  Same reason this year, but I am thinking maybe in 2013 I might finally be able to pop down there at least for a few days….that decision is waiting for another day. (Of course I heard last night that a lot of people were leaving early because of hurricane Sandy.)

I did get to Kansas City this past spring for Market though, but I never really offered you all any gift prizes or anything.  Mostly because I was so busy with Generation Q stuff, that I didn’t really get a chance to gather up prizes for you.  I did get a few though, and I have picked up a couple things since then, so I thought I would offer you a little Last Market prize pack for you….so if you missed it like I did and win, you might not feel quite so bad about it.

Here is your little prize package:

Now to win, you just need to tell me about your latest project or what you think is the best new trend, book, or fabric line out there!

Pretty easy, huh?

I will draw names next weekend sometime or thereafter and get your prize pack off to you!  And regarding the other giveaways earlier this month, I will be announcing those tomorrow, so stay tuned!

So comment away, I am looking forward to hearing what you have to say!

My latest project…hmmmm that would be difficult as I constantly have at least a dozen going at one time. A recent & an exciting project…I have a quilt in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks vol. 6 !

  • I am a very new quilter and not necessarily up on trends, but I love everything Liberty and would say that I’m really excited about their quilting cotton (and that the Liberty bag is what’s pushing me into commenting here). I’m working on way too many English paper piecing projects right now, but I think it’s a quilt of tumblers in slightly hideous calico prints that will be the first one finished.

  • Right now I’m finishing up sashing a quilt top, and working on a jelly roll quilt for my niece. hoping to finish both this week and get them to the quilter!

I’m traveling a lot for work, and weekends I have to catch up on home stuff, so the only thing I can find time for are hexies (portable and fun)! 🙂

  • I’ve just treated my self to some Liberty fabric to make a tunic top – maybe sewing your own clothes is on the rebound!

  • I didn’t get to go either. I have been to Kansas City for the EXPO though. Lots of Eye candy. Market is in Portland this coming Spring and I look forward to going then. The NEW Tula Pink and Jo Morton Fabric Lines looks fun to me. I am currently working on a Mystery by E-mail.

  • My latest projects are feather blocks, fun but hard. Making baby burp cloths for new babies, and a tula pink quilt for my oldest daughter (27). Trends seems to be low volume but a lot of the fabric looks traditional to me. I like color and solids. I see quite a bit of big florals that people are using in blogland. Rainbow quilts are very popular too! Hope it helps! You have some great stuff there I would love to win! I would love to go to quilt Market one day, never been but it is on my one day list!

Been working on my “Farmer’s Wife quilt blocks. I’m using Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille for Moda and I love the line of fabrics, even though I’ve only gotten a couple done. We are going to lose power with the storm soon, so no sewing tonight. Go away Sandy..

I am working on a Baltimore album quilt as a long term project, and finishing up others. In the lineup I have to put the binding on an applique quilt my Grandmother made many years ago. Final assembly of a quilt in two pieces that have been quilting, then bind it. I am going to teach a young girl how to quilt too. I am looking forward to that.

Sorry you didn’t get to go to Market…hoping you’ll make it in 2013.

I just got back from two weeks of babysitting some grands while my 13th grandbaby was born! 3 granddaughters this year…two of those quilts are still in my sewing room! One is in the quilting stage, the other in the cutting stage. So, once I ‘rest up’ a bit , I’ve got to get them DONE!!!!

Well, as most quilters, I’m working on several projects. Hoping to finish four memory quilts for nieces this Christmas (made from my mom’s fabric remnants). Just completed an “Elvis” quilt for a die hard fan. Turned out beautiful if I say so myself! 🙂

  • I always have several ‘latest’ projects going at once but all this past week I have been playing with paints and fusibles and glitzy stuff. Fun and the next step is to figure out projects for the painted pieces. And I think Marcia Derse fabrics are about the coolest fabrics on the market right now!

  • My latest project is still the quilt for my son’s birthday; I still have the quilting to go, but need to get the right thread (tomorrow)

  • I was hoping you would have some patterns for sharing at quilt market this year. I’m anxious to try one. Right now I’m working on a Christmas quilt along with Mama Sparks World. I’m not very fast though and would also like to get back to some American Girl Dollclothes for Christmas gifts. Also I’m having my children and grandchildren here for Thanksgiving so we are very busy getting everything ready for 13 people overnight. It’s going to be wonderful. Thank you for the change to win this wonderful prize!

Well… I’m working on a Dresden Plate-still sewing wedges at this point. I have a portable hexie project from Katy’s Sewing Summit class and a wool applique project that can pick up and go with me anywhere. I have a Starry Eyed quilt to put binding on-this quilt is for one of my sisters. So I guess I have about 4 projects on the go right now, although I am collecting fabric for a low volume quilt to make the cover quilt from Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Nyberg & Cheryl Arkison. Then there are several quilts from Tula Pink’s book that I want to do too. Looks like I’ve got plenty to do this winter!

The pattern is called Tricks or Treats Jacket by Serendipity Gifts. I’ve had it for a few years and finally got around to making it.

So far this year there have been 3 babies born and 2 more are due in December. My husband comes from a family of 9 siblings. Add spouses, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren and we hit 100 members this year! I love making baby quilts for all of them.

  • I am working on a mystery quilt. This is not one that I’ve pieced, but one that I am quilting for a customer of mine. I will be posting pictures really soon of this lovely quilt! I am using four different thread colors within this quilt. My favorite thread thus far is Superior Threads Glide. The color I am using looks like a copper penny! I love it! Can’t wait to finish this and post pictures for all to see! I may just post a few teasers this evening of the quilt in progress!

I think the latest exciting trend are the “Low volume” quilts and I can’t wait to make one. I’m also excited about the 2013 TQS BOM quilt designed by Sue Nickels and Pat Holley.
