295: Good News, Bad News….

The good news is that I drew the name of the winner for the 1001 Peeps bag and the magazines from Quilt Market, and that the original winner of the 100 Blocks issue was associated with the Quiltmaker peeps….so she declined the free issue and I have another winner now!!

First,

I’ve been enjoying the posts from market by other bloggers. Market is something I will never see in person, so it is exciting to get everyone’s perspective and catch their excitement….I also like I don’t have to fight the crowds :}

Love your wonky log cabins…I’ve got some I won in a lotto to put together….I look forward to see how you set these…

Shelly please email me at bluenickel5 (at) earthlink (dot) net with your mailing address and I will get your prize out to you..

Next good news…

the new winner of the 100 Blocks issue is……

Karen who wrote:

I love how your block makes a super size block…great for a big quilt! Thanks for the chance!

So Karen, I need you to also email me your snail mail address to the above email address, and I will be sure to pass it to the Quiltmaker peeps to send you your copy of 100 Blocks….

and Now for the bad news…

here is what I have for pictures from Quilt Market……

That’s right…nothing….my camera card apparently went belly up on me…..and I didn’t notice or bring a spare….so I have Zilch on pictures from Market….so sorry to disappoint on that level….

To make up for it though, I  do have another prize to give away (so there is more Good News!!)….I am giving away a packed little scrap bag of  Swoon by Melissa Averinos (and some coordinating solids)

that I made up while I was piecing this …..

For this magazine

Which is out in the newstands right now….

In fact I will give an issue of the magazine away with the scrap bag too!! All you have to do is leave a comment telling me what really makes you swoon…if you have links to photos that you want to share with the rest of us, that would be cool too….I will draw for this one on Saturday the 28th in the evening okay??

And make sure you keep coming back….cause I still have more giveaways from Quilt Market….I may not have pictures OF Market…but I still have loot to share!!

Happy Sewing peeps!!

Scott

All these give-aways this week are making me swoon – LOL I have seen so much beautiful fabric and creative projects. I love it. I realize you are not participating in the big give-away day, but I already follow you with my Google Reader, so I found yours too. Love looking at all your stuff. Thanks for the chance to win some things from Market.

A bit on the mushy side, but I swoon when my husband puts lotion on my legs. Very luxuriant (hane you ever seen that bookporn for wives that shows men vacuuming and dusting – I swoon for that too)

  • i know this is probably supposed to be fabric-related, but i’ll say- after 6 years of marriage, my husband still makes me swoon. 🙂

OK, I’ll be the dreaded first post: What makes me swoon? A beautiful sunset, a field of tulips in bloom, any quilt with vibrant, saturated colors…

    Scott,

So, so sorry your camera card betrayed you! I have been in the same shape before with “invisible pictures” and have had to just rely on my memory. Very disappointing!

Your quilt is beautiful and makes me swoon! Bright fabrics, some with large prints and visiting quilt shops with all those gorgeous bolts of fabric also lead me down the swoon path. I just want to pull it all into a great big pile and roll in it! I hope that someone else understands and feels the same way since I have typed this out for the world to see!

But…the best swoon of all for me happened just yesterday when I held my good friends’ newborn baby boy! That took me back to holding my own newborn baby boys–and nothing can make me swoon like that!

Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway!

  • Hi Scott, I’m a new follower of your blog and love your quilts! Despite the fact that I attended art school, I have the hardest time putting different colours and patterns together and am still working on collecting fabrics for my first quilt! I should really stick with one designer’s coordinates as a beginner!

What makes me swoon? Well, I just got back into sewing about a year ago and couldn’t believe the quilting fabrics available, I could feel my pupils getting saucer size and drool running down my chin. Any orange/red/turquoise/yellow colour combination makes me swoon!

Swoon worthy events? Hmm, guess I’m at a place in life and age that I don’t swoon any more. I know things that bring peace, calm and serenity can bring on an eyelid dropping/deep breath occassionally….like aqua/green combo quilts…that beachy feel you know; and nature – the glorious colors of fall against evergreens and beechnut bark; diminuative flowers in all their understated glory (including the missing hollyhocks which I can’t seem to grow :(); cascading waterfalls etc. And then, every couple of years I indulge in warmed pecan pie…drool….my fave! I was planning on an entire pie for my birthday this year, but never got to it….so sad…I SHOULD go make one!…I want to swoon this weekend!

Swoon, I keep going back to Flickr and stalking Pink Penguin’s photo stream. Her Ringo Pie blocks, well everything she does (and the whole group) are inspiring and I wish she would make paper piecing patterns to share. The recent mailbox was brilliant.

I think you must mean these two links….
http://ayumills.blogspot.com/ and http://www.flickr.com/groups/pinkpenguin/pool/page4/ Cool stuff indeed!!

I’m back again! I love Swoon so much I have 3 yards but still need two more prints to complete the teal colourway. then I begin to build my top to show off the prints.

That said I love your quilt and John’s too but I’m going for boringly stark simplicity! That said, more scraps in the other colourways would be brilliant for a second top so count me in please

What makes me swoon is the bit I completely forgot – well the sound of a choir singing or a good soloist singing classical. Don’t know why but it makes me go weak at the knees and makes my heart beat faster.

  • What makes me swoon? Are you sure you can ask that in public? as long as I don’t spill my chocolate martini, then a man in a kilt makes me swoon ,but if none of those are around then it’s the brightest orange fabric.

I swoon when I go to a quilt shop and am able to spend lots of time looking at fabrics, notions, threads and patterns. I love your quilt!

  • Congrats for the beautiful quilt being published. What makes me swoon is the news I recently got from my oldest daughter that I can’t share yet. 🙂 But it means that I get to shop for fabric. I’m thinking something from Bunny Hill’s new line or maybe from her Lily and Will line. 🙂 I would love to win this wonderful bag of scraps. This would be fun as a small quilt. Lots of bright colors and interesting patterns. Thank you. Take care and God bless, Cory

The magazine’s pictures really undersold your fabric choices (I didn’t like them in the magazine, but like the pictures posted here). I made a quilt top based on your pattern… I am just getting started posting about quilting but you can see it here…

You don’t know me, but I rarely follow a pattern… I love the design on this one since it plays between scrappy and unstructured look with the graphic blocks dancing down each side. I think Quilter’s Home Magazine was a bit too much about shopping and too little about creating, that said there were some great ideas in it – yours being one of them.

Gosh, Naomi….that is so kind of you!! I LOVE what you did with it!!
