286: Modern Relief Japan…..

The best way to say this is here:

Click on the picture above to find out more about this awesome raffle of amazing quilts for a wonderful cause…Lots of people have been working on this, and I think it is so great how quilters come together to help others…  Pretty cool stuff.  I will have a quilt up in this raffle, but I haven’t taken a picture of it yet, because well, you know, things are NUTS around here lately.   Feels like it gets busier everyday too!!

Anyway!  All the proceeds go to Mercy Corps and here are some basics that I copied from our cover page over at Modern Relief:

Here’s how the raffle will work:

  • Every Monday, (April 4th -May 16th, 2011) a new group of quilts will be featured here on ModernRelief.com
  • To enter for a chance to win one of the quilts featured, you will click on the PayPal button that will be located on the top right column of this blog. This will bring you to the Modern Relief PayPal account.
  • Donations are unlimited, so please feel free to give till your heart’s content.
  • Every $10.00 donation gives you one chance to win any of the quilts featured during the raffle period (April 4th – May 16th, 2011)
  • Multiple wins by a single person will be allowed, so you do have the chance to win more than one quilt
  • Winners of the quilt raffle will be chosen by a random number generator after May 16th, 2011, and the list of winners will be posted here. We will also contact the winners at the email address listed on the PayPal account.
  • All donations received will be donated to Mercy Corps

Here is the first batch of quilts!! What awesome prizes huh??  And you know your money is going for a great cause!!

There will be about 90 quilts (we think, they aren’t all posted yet) total in this raffle, so to me that seems like a lot better odds than a state lottery!

So that’s it in a nutshell….The quilt I will be donating actually hails from another area far away from the US….It is a  60 degree style quilt that I made years ago for my friend Sara Nephew’s book out of African fabrics.  This quilt actually didn’t get in the book due to space issues, but it is a fun one that I am hoping you will be happy to win!   I am not sure of the date I will get to talk more about it, but it will likely be early May.

Just a few gratuitous pictures this post….sorry…but future posts are planned here with lots of pictures, some book reviews, and some designer interviews as well, and maybe even some “big” news of sorts…….  Oh yeah, and for all you lurkers out there….GIVEAWAYS!!

I knew that would get your attention…

Stay tuned peeps!!

Scott
