93: Bench Project

93: Bench Project

I mentioned this project awhil back, and I took pictures, but I never got them posted, so here they are posted for your viewing pleasure.  I made this bench about 13-14 years ago, but never painted it or anything.  In fact, it had an old door as a back to it, but since it sat out in the weather all the time, it eventually fell apart.  the bench itself is not in the best shape either, but I am hoping with this repair/trim and some paint that it will last us another 14 years or so….

 here is the base bench….

and here is the beginning of the trim.  I drilled holes at even measurements along the trim, and then cut towards them with a simple skill saw.

 finished trim:

Here it is finished, but unpainted..    Paint will come later, I don’t know yet what color/colors…..most likely a lot of colors.

  • i too like woodworking, and this is a fabo bench. i like how you did the trim(now why didnt i think of that??) i am in the process right now of reconfiguring a hutch top. i totally agree and i thought the same thing, it needs to be a bunch of fun colors! i would think a bus yellow and aqua would be awesome with some other colors

  • Dude! I can’t believe you made that trim. And I can’t believe I didn’t think of it. I designed a little gingerbread house style playhouse in my niece’s basement and I made them order some trim from online. Slightly fancier, but still, I didn’t think I could just MAKE it.

The bench looks cool. I want to see it painted…

Two years ago, I don’t think I would have been able to “make” the trim either….tight budgets can be great Creativity boosts!

Thanks for dropping in here at the Blue Nickel, come back often!
